Chapter Eight gives you the chance to go back in time and save the day as an adult Peter Quill. There will soon be a dark presence that slowly creeps in and takes over your game screen, resulting in the game's credits to roll. This is where you have to decide whether to Rethink Your Choice or Accept the Promise.

If you want to play the whole game and kill your mom, you can always do that. Then you will be forced back into combat with the members of the Grand Unification.
If you Accept the Promise, the game will end prematurely, and you will be taken back to the title screen. You will face the same choices each time you reload the game until you break the loop.
